⚠️ Simulated trading only. The Prop Trading Practice Portal uses real market prices but involves no real money. Rules are modelled on BitFunded’s published 1-Step evaluation as of October 2026 — always verify current rules directly at
trader.bitfunded.com/client/help before purchasing a real challenge. Nothing here is financial advice.
The prop firm industry has exploded in the crypto space. Companies like BitFunded let you trade their capital — sometimes up to $150,000 — and keep 80% or more of the profits. The catch is you have to pass an evaluation first. You pay an entry fee, trade within strict rules, hit a profit target, and if you pass, you get access to a funded account.
The problem is that most traders fail their first attempt — and in many cases it’s not because their trading was bad. It’s because they didn’t fully internalise the rules before they started. They took one bad trade that breached the daily loss limit. They tried to rush the profit target in two days. They sized too aggressively on a volatile market. The rules feel simple until they’re running in the background of a real trade and real money is on the line.
That’s exactly why I built the
Prop Trading Practice Portal — a free, simulated trading environment that runs the BitFunded 1-Step evaluation rules in real time on live Hyperliquid crypto prices. No real money. No entry fee. Just the experience of trading under actual prop firm constraints before you pay to do it for real.
What Is a Prop Firm Evaluation — and Why Does It Matter?
A proprietary trading firm (prop firm) provides capital to skilled traders and takes a share of their profits. The trader doesn’t risk their own money trading — they risk only the cost of the evaluation. If they pass, they get access to a funded account worth far more than the fee they paid.
✅ What you get if you pass
Access to a funded account (e.g. $10,000–$150,000) where you trade the firm’s capital. Keep 80%+ of profits. No personal capital at risk beyond the evaluation fee.
❌ What happens if you break the rules
Your evaluation ends immediately — regardless of your overall profit. Breaching the daily loss limit or max drawdown is an instant fail. You have to buy another evaluation to try again.
The BitFunded 1-Step evaluation is one of the cleaner structures in the crypto prop space: one phase, clear rules, no trailing drawdown complexity. It’s a good benchmark for practising because the rules are objective and measurable. Either you stayed within the limits or you didn’t.
The 4 BitFunded 1-Step Rules — Explained in Full
These are the exact rules modelled in the Prop Trading Practice Portal. All figures based on a $10,000 simulated account.
10%
Rule 1 — Profit Target
$10,000 account → reach $11,000 to pass
You must grow the account by 10% — on a $10,000 account that means reaching $11,000 in total equity. This is the goal. Every other rule exists to protect you from blowing the account while chasing this number. The profit target is measured on realised equity — closed trades only. Open floating profit does not count toward passing until you close the position. This is an important nuance: you could be sitting at $11,200 in floating profit with two open trades and not yet pass — close those trades and realise the gain, and you’ve passed. The 10% target has no time limit beyond the minimum trading days requirement.
4%
Rule 2 — Maximum Daily Loss
$10,000 account → max $400 loss in any single day
In any single trading day you cannot lose more than 4% of your starting balance — $400 on a $10,000 account. This resets each day. The daily loss limit is typically tracked on live equity, meaning open losing positions count toward your daily limit even before you close them. If you have a $300 open loss and another trade moves $110 against you, you’ve breached the $400 limit even though you haven’t closed either position. This is the most commonly breached rule — especially for traders who add to losing positions or refuse to take a stop. The daily limit resets at 12:15 AM UTC on the real BitFunded platform.
⚠️ Crypto is 24/7 — your daily limit doesn’t stop because you’re asleep. Open positions running overnight can breach the limit while you’re not watching. Use stop-losses on every open position.
6%
Rule 3 — Maximum Total Loss
$10,000 account → never go below $9,400
Your account balance must never fall more than 6% below the starting balance — meaning it can never go below $9,400 on a $10,000 account. This is a static drawdown limit, not trailing. The floor stays fixed at $9,400 regardless of how much profit you make — it never moves up as your account grows (unlike trailing drawdown models used by some other firms). This is actually in your favour: once you’ve built profit, you have more cushion between your current balance and the $9,400 floor. If you run three consecutive bad days each losing $200, you’ve used $600 of your total drawdown buffer and you’re at the limit. You can break the daily loss rule without breaching the total loss rule, but you still fail. They are two separate trip wires, both active simultaneously.
5
Rule 4 — Minimum Trading Days
You must trade on at least 5 separate calendar days
Even if you hit 10% profit on day two, you cannot pass until you have traded on at least 5 separate days. A “trading day” means you opened and closed at least one trade on that calendar day. This rule exists to prevent traders from gambling their way to the profit target in one or two oversized trades — it enforces a minimum level of consistent performance over time. The implication for strategy: don’t try to hit the entire 10% in the first few days. Spread your trading across at least 5 days, target 2–3% per session in a controlled way, and let the profit build sustainably. An average of 2% per day over 5 days exceeds the target comfortably while respecting the time rule.
The Numbers That Matter — Risk Per Trade on a $10k Account
Understanding the rules in percentage terms is one thing. Understanding what they mean for individual trade sizing is what actually protects your account during the challenge.
$10,000 account — key numbers at a glance
| Profit target | $1,000 (10%) | Reach $11,000 to pass |
| Max daily loss | $400 (4%) | Instant fail if breached on any day |
| Max total loss | $600 (6%) | Never go below $9,400 |
| Recommended risk per trade | $100–$150 (1–1.5%) | Leaves room for 2–3 losers before daily limit |
| Max bad days before total fail | 1.5 full days at $400 | One max-loss day + $200 on another = total limit |
| Target daily gain (5 days) | $200/day (2%) | $200 × 5 days = $1,000 = passed |
💡 The simplest passing strategy
Risk 1% per trade ($100), target 2:1 reward-to-risk ($200 per winning trade). You need 5 winning trades across 5 days with zero catastrophic loss days to pass comfortably. That’s not a high bar — but it requires genuine discipline. The Practice Portal lets you build that discipline before the real evaluation clock is ticking.
The Free Prop Trading Practice Portal — How It Works
The
Prop Trading Practice Portal is a free simulated trading environment built directly into rchrisford.com. It runs the BitFunded 1-Step rules against real Hyperliquid crypto market prices — so the market conditions you practice in are the same live conditions you’d face on a real evaluation.
1
Create a free account. Go to the
Prop Trading Practice Portal and register for a free account. Your progress is saved to your account so you can pick up where you left off across multiple sessions — just like a real multi-day evaluation.
2
Trade on live crypto prices. The simulator uses real-time Hyperliquid market data — you’re trading against the actual market, not a random number generator. The price action, volatility, and conditions are genuine.
3
All 4 rules enforced automatically. The portal tracks your profit target (10%), daily loss limit ($400), total loss limit ($600), and minimum trading days (5) in real time. Break the daily loss limit and your session ends — exactly as it would on a real evaluation. There’s no hiding from the rules.
4
Your progress is saved. The evaluation spans multiple days — your account balance, trade history, and rule status are saved to your account. Log back in tomorrow and continue from where you left off. Repeat as many times as you need, for free.
5
Pass the simulation, then go buy the real thing. When you can consistently pass the simulated evaluation — hitting 10% profit across at least 5 days without breaching any rule — you’re ready for a real BitFunded challenge. Passing once might be luck. Passing three or four times in a row means you’ve built the discipline.

How to Approach the Evaluation — Strategy Tips
The evaluation rules force a specific style of trading. Here is what actually works under these constraints — based on the numbers above and real evaluation experience.
✓Risk 1% per trade, never more than 2%. At 1% risk ($100 per trade) on a $10,000 account, you can have three losing trades in a day and still be inside the $400 daily limit with $100 to spare. At 2% risk ($200 per trade), two losses in a day puts you at the limit. The smaller the per-trade risk, the more mistakes you can absorb without ending your day.
✓Use a 2:1 minimum reward-to-risk ratio. Risking $100 to make $200 means you only need to win half your trades to make progress. At 2:1, five trades with three winners and two losers nets you +$200 (+2%). That covers a full day’s required gain while losing 40% of trades — which is very achievable.
✓Stop trading when you’ve hit your daily target. If you’ve made $200 today, close everything and stop. The biggest evaluation killers are traders who hit their daily goal and then keep trading out of momentum — and give it back. Banking the daily target and logging off is a complete strategy.
✓Set a daily loss stop before you open the first trade. Decide before you start trading what your cut-off is for the day. Many successful evaluation traders set a personal limit of $250–$300 — well inside the $400 hard limit — so they never get close to the trip wire even on a bad day.
✓Use RSI and Bollinger Bands for entries. The indicator guides on this site exist precisely for this. Waiting for a high-probability setup before entering — a Bollinger Band squeeze breakout with RSI confirmation, or an RSI divergence signal at a key level — means you take fewer, higher-quality trades. Fewer trades under evaluation rules means less daily loss exposure per session.
❌Never trade without a stop-loss. In a real account you might move a stop or widen it. In an evaluation, that behaviour is fatal. A trade moving $500 against you breaches both the daily and total loss limits at once. Every trade must have a hard stop-loss set before you enter, calculated from your position size so the loss in dollar terms stays within your per-trade risk budget.
Why Practising Before Buying Matters More Than You Think
A BitFunded $10,000 1-Step evaluation costs money to enter. When you’re in a real evaluation with real money paid and time invested, the psychological pressure changes your behaviour. You tighten up on winners too early. You hold losers too long to avoid being wrong. You overtrade on the days you’re down trying to recover before the daily limit hits.
None of this is a character flaw — it’s just psychology, and it affects almost everyone until they’ve experienced those situations enough times in low-stakes environments that the reactions become automatic rather than reactive. Practising under the exact rules with real price action is the shortcut to building that experience without paying for failed evaluations to get it.
“The evaluation doesn’t test whether you can make money trading. It tests whether you can make money trading within specific constraints over a sustained period. Those are different skills. The second one requires practice under the constraints themselves — not just general trading experience.”

Build Your Trading Skills Before the Evaluation
The Bottom Line
The BitFunded 1-Step evaluation is a straightforward challenge on paper: make 10%, stay within the loss limits, trade on at least 5 days. In practice it requires a calibrated trading approach, genuine discipline around position sizing and daily limits, and the psychological composure to trade the same way when real money is on the line as you do in practice.
The Practice Portal is here to close the gap between knowing the rules and actually trading within them. Use it. Pass it multiple times. Build the muscle memory. Then go buy the real evaluation with a plan instead of a guess.

I built the Practice Portal because I wanted it myself. Before spending money on a real evaluation I wanted to know: can I actually trade within these constraints on real market conditions, not just in theory? The answer surprised me — the rules feel simple until you’re in a losing streak on day three and the daily limit is approaching and every instinct says to average down. That’s the moment the practice pays off. Use the portal until that moment feels routine rather than panicked. That’s when you’re ready.
